Staging a home is a great way to increase the appeal of that home to potential buyers. Here are some techniques you can use to stage a home.
Say, Bye-Bye, Clutter
The first thing you’ll want to do is remove clutter. This includes furniture. Having too much furniture cuts off the space and makes rooms look smaller. If you don’t want to actually get rid of furniture then consider renting out a storage unit and moving excess furniture there until the home is sold and you move.
Make Adjacent Rooms Seamless
To make a space appear to be bigger, paint two rooms the same color. This will make say a dining room and kitchen appear to be one big room that is more appealing to potential buyers. Another way to make the room appear bigger is to paint the walls the same color as the drapes. As you’re considering wall color choices, it’s best to stay clear of bold colors. Instead, paint walls warm neutral tones such as a honey or even a soft blue-green. However, if there is a feature in the room that you want to highlight, such as a fireplace or a built-in bookcase, consider using a bolder color on that wall.
Brighten the Kitchen
If your cabinets in the kitchen aren’t that great looking, rather than paying for new cabinets, consider just replacing the door and drawer fronts and then painting everything so it matches. Then replace the hardware so that it’s new. This will really brighten up the room and make it more appealing to potential buyers.
